Reimagining Bloodchild From the Perspective of Lomas

When I awoke, I saw a Tlic and a fellow Terran hovering over me. I looked around to see I was laying on the floor of what appeared to be their home. For a moment, I wrongfully believed everything would be okay. That is, until the Tlic turns to the Terran boy and says,

"Go out and slaughter an animal at least half your size."

Immediately, my body began to fill with panic. I hadn't quite regained full control over my body from falling unconscious, but between being laid out on the floor, the increasingly painful movements in my stomach, and the Tlics demand for an animal’s slaughter I was able to piece together they needed meat for the grubs they were likely about to rip out of my intestines. I laid there in shock, hearing the urgency swell in the Tlic’s voice but not the words themselves. I watched as the boy grabbed a rifle from what seemed to be the kitchen as I started to regain some control over my body, though I knew that would only make the process harder. I prayed that by some miracle I would slip back out of consciousness one more time so I wouldn’t be awake to experience my dissection. My thoughts were interrupted by the loud slam caused by the boy frantically shutting the door behind him. Suddenly, my mind became so distracted with all the thoughts whizzing through my head that I couldn’t focus on any given one of them and my mind went blank. I was forced to lay in silence as I watched the Tlic pace around in anticipation for the boy’s return. Only a few moments passed before my ears started ringing and my vision grew cloudy. I had felt the same way less than an hour prior and as expected, I quickly lost consciousness again.

I regained consciousness again after what I believe to be only a few minutes, groaning and coughing as I tried to transition myself into a more comfortable position. However, my attempts at moving were to no avail as I felt an odd numbing tingle hold me down.

“Please,” I begged. “Wait…”

But my pleading was unsurprisingly to no avail. The Tlic’s mouth began moving in response to my begging but I felt woozy and my ears were ringing too much for me to make out what she said. I watched in horror as she lowered her claw onto my stomach. It took me a moment to notice that she had placed it on a lump of flesh that was being pushed up by something squirming around underneath. The blob moved in an oddly rhythmic and calculated manner, quickly dashing to one spot and then sharply changing direction towards another. I wasn't sure if the thoughtfulness behind the grub's movement should heighten or lessen my anxiety. It was unnerving knowing there was something violently moving inside of me without being able to feel it due to the Tlic’s sting. I thought it best to look away and hope the sting would be enough to prevent me from feeling the slicing of the Tlic’s claw through my body. For a moment, I thought my wish had come true, and began to relax. However, the moment I let my guard down I felt a sharp pain somewhere within me. It was hard telling where exactly the incision had been made due to my body feeling like nothing more than a collective pile of mush, but the cut hurt like hell all the same. I kept my gaze locked on the ceiling, hoping to spare myself from the horrid sight of my body, but instead my vision was met only moments later with the Tlic’s hand holding the grub up to the light. The sight of the pulsating, blood hungry creature was enough to make me slip out of consciousness again. This time, I wouldn’t awake again for several hours, and part of me wishes that monstrosity of a newborn was the last thing I ever saw.
